This is the opening round of the 2026-27 Ligue 1 season, with Lens hosting Auxerre at Stade Bollaert-Delelis. Because the new season has not yet produced meaningful league tables, all form references here come from the 2025-26 campaign, in which Lens finished second and Auxerre 15th.

Away from home, however, their last 20 league fixtures brought only three wins, six draws and 11 defeats, with 1.1 scored and 1.65 conceded per match.

The four most recent meetings between these sides are on record. Lens have won two, Auxerre one, and one match ended level. Lens have scored five goals in those games and Auxerre seven, a combined 12 goals at an average of three per meeting. Only one of the four produced two or fewer total goals.

The main caveat is that this is a new season with a long off-season break, and the underlying numbers come from the previous campaign. If Auxerre can carry that late uptick into the opener, the match could be tighter than the model suggests, but the weight of evidence strongly favors the home side.
