Falkirk Push Rangers to the Brink Before Shankland Settles It

For eight minutes, this looked like it might follow the expected pattern. Lawrence Shankland, picked out by Djeidi Gassama, gave Rangers the lead early and hinted at a comfortable afternoon on the road. Falkirk, sitting well below their illustrious opponents in the pecking order of Scottish football, had every reason to fear a long afternoon at the Falkirk Community Stadium once the visitors drew first blood inside the opening ten minutes.

Instead, Falkirk grew into the game and struck back on the stroke of half-time, levelling the contest and sending a jolt through the away support.
